When Is The Election?

April 10, 2018, is the Sioux Falls citywide election. If no mayoral candidate gets over 50 percent of the vote, there will be a runoff election on May 1, 2018, between the top two vote getters from April 10. The mayoral race winner will then be sworn in on May 15, 2018.

Am I Registered To Vote?

You must be a registered voter in the city limits of Sioux Falls. If you are unsure if you are a registered voter, have moved recently or have not voted in a few years, you can visit the South Dakota Secretary of State’s website to look up your registration.

Registering to vote is quick and easy. You have three ways to register:

1.      You can fill out the registration form at the link below and mail it to your county auditor’s office here

2.      Visit your county auditor’s office to complete the above form, or

3.      Register or change your registration address when you renew your driver’s license.

Note: March 26, 2018, is the deadline to register to vote in the election.

The City of Sioux Falls also provides great detail on how/where to vote here.

You can also absentee vote starting in March and can get details on that here. This is a great way to cast your ballot early in case a scheduling conflict or family obligations come up on election day.
